Confirmation

“...teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” -Matthew 28:20

The learning of God’s Word is a life-long activity. It begins at home, of course, as mothers and fathers read the stories of the Bible with their children, pray with them, and discuss everyday problems with reference to the Word of God. In order to assist the parents in this their God-given duty, Mount Hope Lutheran Church provides weekly classes in the Catechism (Ten Commandments, Apostle’s Creed, Lord’s Prayer, Baptism, Confession and Absolution, Lord’s Supper) starting in fifth and sixth grade. Students learn to confess the faith clearly according to God’s Word and in the beautiful and timeless summaries of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism.

Catechism class has as its goal Confirmation, where the student confesses the faith before the congregation and is welcomed to receive the Lord’s body and blood in Holy Communion. Please check out the calendar for dates and times for junior Confirmation classes.

Adult Confirmation Classes

For those who come to the faith, or to the Lutheran Church, later in life, we offer Adult Confirmation Class. Please talk to Pastor Preus if you are interested in learning more about our Church or in becoming a member!

“I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of His Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned creature, purchased and won me from all sin, from death, and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, that I may be His own and live under Him in His Kingdom, and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, even as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. This is most certainly true.”
