The Church has long found poetry to be the best means for speaking of and celebrating this great mystery of the two natures of Christ.
When looking at the icon, perhaps the first thing that jumps out is the asymmetry of Jesus’ face.
At the sight of this extraordinary spectacle the heathens who had been cursing began to believe and bless the Lord.
